NORTHAMPTONSHIRE FA JUNIOR CUP Quarter Final (northants comb teams in bold)
Kislingbury entertained Wootton St George, the game was very evenly matched for the first half, with only a scrappy goal after 30minutes when a corner from Tommy Gee was headed in by Duncan Eade that gave Kislingbury the half time lead of 1-0. Kisl may have sewn up the tie, if the last shot of the half hadn’t gone just wide. The second half started just as evenly matched, and stayed that way for most of the half, but when the referee gave an indirect free kick on the edge of the penalty area in the 80th minute, Andy Wimpress passed the ball to an unmarked Darren Innes for him to guide it passed the keeper. With 5 minutes left a great move down the right wing ending with a delightful cross by Greg Ling to Tommy Gee for one of the easiest goals he’s going to score made it three. With two minutes to go, a mix up in the kisl defense let Wootton’s Michael Ryan thunder a consolation in to the back of the net.3-1.
Rothwell Corinthians entertained Heyford Athletic and the UCL div 1 team were too strong for their visitors winning 2-0.
Weldon Skip Hire Premier Division
As the New Year started it was all change in the Premier Division table, a Dean Surridge hat-trick saw off Corby Pegasus 3-1 for visiting reigning champions Harpole, who have now moved up into second on goal difference as they push for another title win.
Harpole gained revenge for defeat by Corby Pegasus earlier in the season in a great match at West Glebe South. Pegasus started brightly and took the lead on 15 minutes when great work between Liam Duffy and Ben Smith ended with Smith’s precision cross being superbly headed home by Richard Chwaszcza at the far post. Pegasus then should have gone in front but Dragoslav Krunic pulled his shot past the post with just the keeper to beat. Harpole started to come into the game and equalized on 35 mins with Dan Surridge with the first of his hat-trick – the keeper’s long kick out being put away well. They then took the lead on 55 mins with Dan Surridge and Harpoles second and shortly afterwards Pegasus were reduced to 10 men which made their task almost impossible as they poured forward they inevitably left gaps at the back. With minutes remaining Harpole’s Dan Surridge took advantage and completed his hat-trick and to seal the points to knock recently promoted Pegasus off top spot. Milton moved up to top spot with a 5-0 demolition of Kettering Nomads.
Corby Madisons dropped to fourth as a result of a 0-0 away draw at Roade.
Elsewhere, Brixworth All Saints were beaten once more by bottom placed Stanion United, who have moved off the bottom spot as a result of the win 2-0. Ravensthorpe LB just edged a close contest over Whitefield Norpol with goals from Alex Bond, Paul Campling and Delany Fifefield against a brace from Luke Abrahart 3-2.
