Cup Final Dates, Venues & Referee Appointments

 


Highgrade Motor Star Award:
Gretton Res for their unlikely 2-1 victory over Moulton Res.

 

WELDON SKIP HIRE PREMIER DIVISION

Following on from their extra-time triumphs in midweek, Corby Madisons failed to capitalise with a win over Brixworth All Saints who have been in freefall Dan McShefferty scored for Madisons, but Craig Rose also netted for Brixworth as the game finished 1-1, this leaves Madisons second, only on goal difference following the Kislingbury result.   Kisl condemned Stanion United to relegation with a convincing defeat of their hosts, Butcher, Inns, Stephen Roe, Andy Wimpress, Jordan McGill and Aaron Evans all got on the score-sheet as a 6-0 win means they could still claim runners-up.

Corby Pegasus with goals for Chwaszcza, Harris and Doherty, shared the points with a 3-3 draw against Heyford Athletic.

Champions; Harpole were 1-0 victors over Roade with a Tom Liversedge effort.



RUSSELL ROOFING DIVISION ONE

Relegated Crick Athletic, managed a win over Bective Wanderers, Ben House, Ben Simms, Ronnie Brannen and Barrowclough got the goals in a 4-3 win.

In a fight for the title, Harborough Town hosted table toppers Weldon United.    A very tight first half in this potential league decider saw Weldon go in with the lead: after pressure from Harborough, an incisive breakaway with an excellent run from Gez McLafferty laid the ball on a plate for Paul Djeneralovic to fire home.

The second half was more of the same as Harborough’s pressure told with a goal for Dan Wright within the first minute of the whistle.  It stayed equal and well matched until the final ten minutes when Ian Bell added a brace to seal his place as the first team and club’s top goal scorer and give the championship to Weldon 3-1.   Congratulations to Weldon United.

Queen Eleanor Great Houghton hosted Corby Phoenix losing 2-1, despite a strike for Errington, John Carson and Robert Muir got the Phoenix goals.

Elsewhere, relegated Spratton had a 3-2 victory over Welford Victoria and Wootton St George shared the points with Stanwick Rovers, Andy Rogers and Stuart McDermott got the Wootton goals.

Harborough Town v Weldon United                                                                 1-3

KEYSTONE ROOFING SUPPLIES DIVISION TWO

The Smiths, Ross and Fraser sealed victory for Islip United as the beat Weedon 2-1.

Punjab United rounded off their season with a convincing win that sees them top, Andrew Cox, Paul Hetherington and Michael Logue got their goals in a 3-1 win over Wellingborough Ranelagh.   Cold Ashby Rovers beat Wilbarston   3-1 with goals for Ringer (2) and Metcalfe, Wooldridge got the consolation for Wilbarston, Cold Ashby still have one to play and could clinch the title with a win in their final game if it is by two clear goals.


 

ROTHENBERGER TOOLS DIVISION THREE

Corby Locomotives hosted local rival Corby Danesholme Vikings as the visitors needed the win to claim the title, David Clark scored for Locos, but goals for Nathan Bailey, Frank Muir, Lee Pettigrew and Paul Kelly sealed the win and with it the title 4-1.   Congratulations to Vikings.

Daventry Drayton Grange held Ristee Towers 2-2, in a game that could have prolonged the direction of the title, Matt Russ and Michael Fielding got the Towers` goals.

Elsewhere, Wellingborough Raffertys drew 1-1 with Great Doddington and West Haddon, with a Dury brace drew 2-2 with Dainite Sports.

 

DIVISION FOUR

Following the weekends games Corby Strip Mills claimed the division four title, congratulations to them.

Corby Eagles and Corby Everards drew 0-0 and Wellingborough Rising Sun drew 1-1 with Corby Leaf, Jamie Cairns got the Leaf goal whilst, Kenny Taylor scored for Rising Sun.

 

DUSTON GARAGE (Bosch Service) RESERVE PREMIER DIVISION

Moulton Res lost any slim chance of winning the league following their 2-1 away defeat at Gretton Res, Callum Gray scored for Moulton, but Steve Chilton and L Greg slotted home for the hosts in a shock victory.

League Cup winners, Corby Madisons Res are one of four teams that could still win the league and they followed up their cup win with a 5-2 defeat of relegated Heyford Athletic Res, Luke Hickson and Paul Curley scored for Heyford.

Milton Res with a goal for Dominic Spinelli, lost 2-1 against Corby Pegasus Res, whose goals came from John Dufty and Scott Grant.

Weldon United Res are the current leaders following their win over James King Blisworth Res and with the league drawing to a close, nothing but four wins for Weldon will do.  The home team started well and dominated early on to be rewarded with a David Thompson goal on 30 minutes, JK, however, went in at half time on level terms after a strike for Shane Walker.

Weldon attacked in the second half and were rewarded with a goal on 70 minutes from top goal scorer Thompson again.  Weldon ran out comfortable 2-1 winners led by talisman Johnston against valiant competitors.

 Weldon United Reserves v James King Blisworth Reserves                    2-1 

With the league drawing to a close, nothing but four wins for Weldon will do.  The home team started well and dominated early on to be rewarded with a DAVID THOMPSON goal on 30 minutes.  The away team however went in at half time on level terms after a sweet own-goal strike from Captain DANNY JOHNSTON’s corner.

Weldon attacked in the second half and were rewarded with a goal on 70 minutes from team top goal scorer THOMPSON again.  Weldon ran out comfortable 2-1 winners led by talisman JOHNSTON against valiant competitors.

  

RESERVE DIVISION ONE

Brixworth All Saints Res lost once more by a narrow margin as they went down 4-3 against Medbourne Res.

Bugbrooke St Michaels B piled pressure on leaders Whitefield Norpol Res with a 5-1 thrashing, Ross Arundell, the Norpol top marksman, got their goal.

Neal Piggott got an away goal as Finedon Volta Res just lost a close contest with Queen Eleanor Great Houghton Res 2-1, whilst elsewhere, Ringstead Rangers Res humbled Wootton St George Res 4-1.

In the final game Jason Howes and Gavin Boddington scored for Wollaston Victoria Res as they shared the points with Stanion United Res 2-2, the away goals came from; Stephen Church and P Bonner.

 

RESERVE DIVISION TWO

Weldon United A followed in the footsteps of their first team sealing victory and the division title against Kettering Orchard Park Res:   Weldon took the game to Orchard Park and won with a mixture of youth and very experienced veterans.   Weldon won 3-2 through goals from Andrew Sweeny, a Damien Burton penalty and Dominic Johnson. 

Weedon Res won 3-2 against Daventry Drayton Grange Res.

Wilby Res lost 4-1 at home to Stanwick Rovers Res, a hat-trick for Ryan Knight and a single for Jamie Looker.

Kettering Orchard Park Reserves v Weldon United ‘A’                               3-2

Weldon took the game to Orchard Park and won with a mixture of youth and very experienced veterans against a brutal home side.   Weldon won 3-2 through goals from ANDREW SWEENY, a DAMIEN BURTON penalty for his team’s season century, and DOMINIC JOHNSON. 

A fantastic achievement from the players and backroom staff with a special mention for veterans captain PAUL CROWLEY, GRAEME JOHNSON and ROBERT BURKE who have been promoted with all three teams at Weldon over the past few years.

Kettering Nomads Res moved up two places with a midweek win over Corby Pegasus Res 4-2.

 

RESERVE DIVISION ONE

Whitefield Norpol Res beat Harborough Town Res for the second week in a row following their win on penalties in the league cup last week, Ross Arundell and Brett Sandy each got a brace to make it 4-0.
