NORTHAMPTONSHIRE FA JUNIOR CUP 2nd ROUND

It was a day to remember for Heyford Athletic and Weldon United as they both dumped out UCL sides in the competitions second round. Heyford entertained Desborough Town Reserves and sent them packing on the wrong end of a 6-2 hiding. Weldon’s margin of victory was narrower but no less impressive as they disposed of struggling Burton Park Wanderers 1-0.

Bective Wanderers would do well to take heart from their narrow 2-1 defeat to high-flying Rothwell Corinthians Reserves, as would Ravensthorpe LB who were unlucky to lose 2-0 to Southern League outfit Woodford United. The derby tie between defending league champions Harpole and Kislingbury was a typically tight affair as Harpole ran out 4-3 winners.

Fellow Premier Division side Roade, who did so well against UCL opposition last year saw their challenge ended by a spirited Wootton St George who held on to win 3-2.

Corby Kingfisher Athletic enjoyed a 3-0 romp over Cotton Hill of the Town league. Kettering Nomads 3-2 win over Resource United and Earls Barton’s 6-0 thumping of Thorplands United ensured a clean sweep for Combination sides over Town League opposition. Crick Athletic endured a hefty defeat, going down 8-1 at home to Peterborough Sports.
