NORTHAMPTONSHIRE FA LOWER JUNIOR CUP 2nd ROUND
For the second successive week Combination sides handed out hidings to Town League sides in Cup Competitions. Hassan Mumin’s double strike for Punjab United in their 5-2 win ensured that Far Cotton Loco’s Cup dreams reached the end of the line. Tom Martin also struck twice as Ringstead Rangers saw of Delapre Old Boys 7-2.
Elsewhere Ristee Towers enjoyed the sole success over UCL sides. Andrew Pocock and Simon Emery were on target to ensure their progression at the expense of Irchester United Reserves. Rothwell Corinthians overcame spirited resistance from Corby Danesholme Vikings to win 2-1. Wollaston Victoria ran Rushden and Higham Rangers tight, closing out their higher level opposition for 120 minutes. However the UCL side held their nerve to progress 3-1 on penalties. Weldon United and Daventry Drayton Grange also went through on penalties, defeating Syresham and Peterborough Bretton Park respectively. Scott Riley’s solo effort for Clipston against Silverstone put them into the hat for the next round. Dave Harding bagged a hat trick for Gretton as they saw off Werrington Town of the Peterborough League, alongside Weedon who despatched Peterborough Sports 2-0. Wilby and Wellingborough Ranelagh had less success against opposition from the same league, crashing out 3-1 to Eye Sports and 5-0 to Netherton United respectively.
Graham Steward notched up a treble for Burton United but it was not enough to save his side as they went down 6-4 to Yardley Gobion. Five of the ties in this round featured games between near neighbours. Bugbrooke St Michaels ‘B’ eclipsed Harpole Reserves 4-0, Milton saw off James King Blisworth Reserves 3-0, Rushden Corner Flag dumped out Wellingborough Old Grammarians 2-1, Great Doddington stuffed Wellingborough Raffertys 5-2, whilst Cold Ashby Rovers cruised to a 2-0 win at West Haddon. 2-1 was the margin of victory for Finedon Volta as they travelled to Islip United, with Pete Jones and John Tarry’s strikes easing their passage. Kettering Nomads put three past Weavers Old Boys without reply, whilst John Freeman’s double helped Roade Reserves past Corby Locomotives by the same margin. Kislingbury Reserves squeezed past Staverton Park Rangers 1-0. Heyford Athletic came up short against Middleton Cheney losing 6-2.
Weldon Skip Hire Premier Division
Milton stayed top of the table with a 1-1 draw away to Brixworth All Saints. Nearest rivals Moulton slipped up away at Corby Pegasus, losing 4-2. Dragoslav Kunic picked up a hat trick to move the victors into third. Corby Madison’s sit second after a 3-1 win away to Kislingbury. Chris Slinn, Alex Bond, and Courtney Hurbert all scored as Ravensthorpe LB recorded their maiden league win to move off the bottom of the table at the expense of fellow strugglers Kettering Nomads. Jay Veiyra’s double propelled Whitefield Norpol to victory over second bottom Stanion United. Heyford Athletic and Roade finished an eight goal thriller with a point a piece.

Russell Roofing Division One
A 2-0 win for Harborough Town at James King Blisworth keeps them clear of the field. Weldon United’s goalless draw with Corby Kingfisher Athletic lengthens the gap at the top to five points. At the other end of the table Earls Barton United’s draw with Welford Victoria moves them up a place. Queen Eleanor Great Houghton hammered fellow strugglers Crick Athletic 8-2 to climb off the foot of the table. Wins for Medbourne and Bective Wanderers 4-1 and 2-1 at Corby Phoenix and Stanwick Rovers respectively leave them comfortably in mid table. Wootton St George and Spratton shared a 1-1 draw.

Hillmorton and Dainite Sports played out a 5-5 draw. David Barnett struck a hat trick for the visitors and Steve Oldham a brace for the home side.
Division Four
Scott McKinnon scored four times as Corby Strip Mills thumped Northampton Wallace Hind 5-2. Not to be outdone Jamie Cairns did the same for Corby Leaf as they inflicted the same scoreline on Weekley Vale United. George Brown went one better, nabbing 5 as Corby Everards smashed Northampton Sapphires 8-4. Tony Walker and Stephen Cox banged in braces for Wellingborough Rising Sun as they cruised to a 6-2 win over CSV United. Wellingborough WMC defeated AFC Thrapston 2-0 on the road. The all Corby tie between Rockingham and Eagles went the way of the visitors 3-1. Kettering Park Rovers endured a nervy finish, holding out to win 4-3 at Yardley United.
Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Reserve Premier Division
No less than eight players scored hat tricks in this division. Neal Piggott got all three of Finedon Volta’s goals as they defeated Bugbrooke St Michael ‘A’ 3-1. Chris Church, James Marks and Joseph Powell all scored three as Harborough Spencer’s thumped Brixworth 11-0. Phil Chapman was Medbourne’s sharpshooter as they ran out 4-0 winners at Harpole ‘A’. Gavin Boddington registered on the score sheet three times for Wollaston Vic’s but it was not enough to seal the points, as they drew 4-4 at Spratton. Ross Arundell and Adam Wittich-Jackson rounded out the treble-target finders to account for 6 out of Whitefield Norpol’s 9 goals in their win over Stanion United.

Gary Chambers and Mark Kelly scored twice each as Kettering Orchard Park ran riot against Welford Reserves winning 6-0. Crick Athletic came away from Dainite Sports with points after a 2-0 victory, Meanwhile Weldon United came home from Earls Barton United with the points after a fine 5-3 display.
