Corby Eagles  v Corby Everards

A highly charged and competitive game played at Wellingborough Town pitted last years beaten finalists against the Division’s early leaders.
As the game commenced it was Eagles who made the most of the early running, seeking to test the Everards ‘keeper. Everards on the other hand seemed content to sit back and soak up the pressure, looking to hit back on the break. To this end they spent most of the half playing with only one up front, with 20 minutes remaining of the first half, the left back Paul McLarty took the ball round three Everards defenders, and slotted it into the bottom left hand corner, 1-0 to Eagles. 5 minutes of the first half left and Michael Sockett goes through Everards Grzegorz Szych and the Referee Ellis Clark has no hesitation and awards a penalty, George Brown steps up places the ball and slots it the wrong side of the goal, the last shot of the game comes from a free kick for Everards 25yards out only for it to be gathered by the Eagles keeper.

Half time – Corby Eagles 1  v 0 Corby Everards

Second half started with Eagles on the back foot, but not for long as the have a couple of shots on target, Everards high light of the second half was an excellent Grzegorz shot, after playing a one two down the right side, he tested Eagles keeper as he tipped it over the bar. But it takes till the last 10 minutes of the game for Everards to come out of their shell, and still being 1-0 down they missed chance after chance hitting the ball wide or into the Eagles keepers hand, it was never going to hit the back of the net.

Final Score:  Corby Eagles 1  v 0 Corby Everards
