Venue -
Sileby Rangers FC - 19:30 KO |
||
| Report:
Both teams were
looking forward to the final as hosts Northampton Sileby
Rangers provide a superb venue and excellent playing surface.
OG's provided the
early pressure but failed to create a clear chance until Anthony Brown
shot wide after ten minutes.OG's continued to press and Simon Blee had
the chance to open the scoring but shot straight at the keeper. The best
move of the first half was created by Ian Mason who crossed
perfectly only to see three of his forwards failing to connect from six
yards out.
The second half
followed a similar patten with more pressure on the Gt Doddington goal
with at least four clear cut chances to OG's. It took just over seventy
minutes before Gt Doddington's best effort on goal with Shane
Richardson firing just over the bar.
The game moved into
extra time and the lush surface started to create fitness problems for
both sides. Gt Doddington should have sealed the game in the second
period when, with only the OG's keeper to beat Callum Sanders shot
poorly wide.
Both teams missed
their first pens and it was left to David Johnson of Gt Doddington to
level at 4-4 but he missed and OG's started their celebrations |
