Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Star Award :
Bugbrooke
St Michaels ‘A’ for the way in which they bounced back from the heavy
defeat last week, to secure a fine 8-1 win.
Russell Roofing Premier Division:
Two games in and Harpole will be kicking themselves after dropping more
points, this time suffering a 2-1 reverse at the hands of Harborough
Town. Rob Barnett and Tom Robson were the marksmen for the home side.
Whitefield Norpol’s 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Weldon, leaves
them pointless after 2 rounds whilst their opponents sit comfortably in
second on goal difference. They lead the way from Kislingbury who
managed a surprise 3-2 win over early season favourites Brixworth.
Fourth place currently belongs to Heyford Athletic who edged out
South Northants rivals Milton 3-2, thanks in no small part to a brace
from Tom Wadlock.
Steve Thain, Richard Chwaszcza, Ryan Ogden, and Barry Fisher each struck
twice for Corby Pegasus and Medbourne respectively, but it was Thain who
struck the winner from the spot, as the Corby side snatched the points.
Queen Eleanor Great Houghton’ s debut match in the top flight ended 1-1
away to Corby Khalsa. Moulton and Roade also shared the points in a 2-2
draw.
Keystone Roofing Supplies Division 1:
James King Blisworth seem to have corrected last week’s defensive
frailties, whilst losing none of their firepower. Finedon Volta were the
victims this time around as the Tunnelmen smashed in five goals, with
three coming from Nat Liburd. In reply, Volta were restricted to two
strikes. Spratton suffered a second successive league defeat, this time
a 3-2 reverse at the hands of Wootton St George. Chris Ryan doubled up
for the Villagers. Local rivals Welford carried on where they left of
the previous week, making it consecutive home and away wins with a 6-1
demolition of Stanwick. Ringstead fared better however, on their lengthy
trip to Cold Ashby, coming away with a hard earned 2-1 win.
Stanion’s return to the first division continues to be an unhappy one,
as they too crashed to a second defeat on the bounce. There was to be no
repeat of last weekend’s goalscoring heroics however as hosts Earls
Barton cruised to a 3-0 win, courtesy of a Kris Hall treble. Kettering
Nomads rounded out the games with a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Corby
Kingfisher.
Rothenberger Group Division 2:
Bective Wanderers improved on last week’s surprise defeat with a routine
3-0 win at home to Weedon. Karl
Juzyk’z double set them on their way to a maiden victory. Corby
Danesholme secured their second win of the season as they hit Clipston
for six without reply. Nick Taylor (2) was the pick of the home
marksmen. Gretton stumbled for the second successive week losing out 5-2
to a resurgent Old Grammarians side. Sam Meadows hit a hat-trick for
OG’s. However, fellow Wellingborough side Ranelagh set tongues wagging
with their superb display at home to Strip Mills. The visitor’s
confidence was high after winning their tough tie with Ristee Towers
last week, but they were brought crashing back to earth as they were
routed 8-1. Wayne Partridge bagged three, whilst Anthony Brown chipped
in with a brace. Ristee are still pointless after a home defeat to
Orchard Park, 2-1 the final score. Great Doddington’s momentum continues
after last season’s surge to promotion as they overcame neighbours
Wollaston 2-1. Wollaston will doubtless be kicking themselves after
wayward finishing saw them lose out by a single goal for the second game
in a row. Burton United, conquerors of Bective last time out will also
be in for shooting practice this week as they wasted several good
chances away at Islip. The Tollbar side took the lead early on, and were
kept in front thanks to poor finishing and excellent stops from their
goalkeeper. Burton did find the target on 50 minutes, but were
immediately pegged back again as the hosts surged forward. More goals
followed for both sides, but Islip came out on top 5-3.
Division 3:
A spirited display from Wilbarston was not enough to prevent last
seasons Division 4 champions Ise Lodge from taking all three points.
Wilbarston twice took the lead in the match through Adam McQuade and Tom
Evans before Steve Wilman won it for the Kettering outfit.
Wilby romped home with a 7-2 win away at Staverton Park Rangers.
Conner Hartwell bagged four, supported by a Dean King double and Mikey
Davies’ single. Dainite slumped to another heavy defeat, this time going
down 5-2 away to Wellingborough Saxons. Corby Everards turned in another
eight goal thriller, securing all three points this time in a 5-3 home
win over Wellingborough WMC. Marc Redden struck twice for the visitors,
but found his goals cancelled out by a Stevie Harrison brace and goals
from Andy Kyle, Dean Gazeley and Ian Scullion.
Hillmorton posted another win, this time 3-0 on the road to
Crick, whilst Corby Eagles edged out Rising Sun 2-1.
Division 4:
Kennedy’s produced the perfect tonic for last week’s mauling, as they
secured a narrow victory over Corby Hearth, 4-3. Long Buckby Ravens
continued their goalscoring form, sticking five past Walgrave Amber, who
could only manage a Billy Ling reply. Kris Desmond was the pick of the
Ravens strike-force. Darren Harrison hit all of Corby Talisman’s goals
in their ten goal thriller with CSV, but it was the home side who were
the happiest taking all three points with a 6-4 result. The battle of
the new boys at West Glebe went the way of Kingswood as they narrowly
defeated FC Higham 1-0. The Yardley United – Kettering Park Rovers game
was also tight, with Rovers triumphing in a 4-3 win.
Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Reserve
Premier Division:
Normal service was resumed for reigning champions Moulton as Ash
Rollison’s solo effort was enough to secure victory over ON Chenecks
‘A’. Bugbrooke St Michaels ‘A’ bounced back in style from last weeks
hammering at the hands of Weldon, producing a goal-fest of their own,
with Matt Partridge notching four times as they swept aside Corby
Pegasus 8-1. The tie between Whitefield and Weldon was something of an
anti-climax however, particularly for those hoping for more exciting
forward play as it petered out into a 1-1 draw. Kislingbury conceded
twice for the second match in a row, this time to Gretton, but they held
on this time and took the points with a late second strike from Dean
Wilkinson for a 3-2 win.
Reserve Division 1:
Brixworth showed no signs of early season ring-rust as they cruised to a
5-0 victory over Ringstead. Heyford pulled out their second victory of
the season with a 2-1 win at Wollaston. Stanion defeated Queen Eleanor
4-2 as they looked to shake of the effects of last weeks 4-1 defeat at
Heyford. Dan Purdie scored twice for Eleanor, but another brace, this
time from Ollie Turner, alongside Dean Pridmore and Michael Milne’s
efforts kept the points in Corby. Medbourne and Kettering Orchard Park
also netted four times each as they saw off Bugbrooke ‘B’ – 4-2 – and
Wootton St George – 4-1 – respectively.
Danny Darker helped himself to a hat-trick in Orchard Park’s win.
Weldon ‘A’ scored three without reply away to Finedon Volta.
Reserve Division 2:
Sam Core’s double for Stanwick was not enough to prevent a successive
Earls Barton triumph, as they scored three for the second week in a row
to win 3-2. Old Grammarians had Paul Taylor (2) to thank as they and
Crick shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Wilby Reserves seem to have
problems with their defence as they shipped seven goals to last seasons
strugglers Harpole ‘A’. The result is all the more remarkable as the
visitors managed a drab draw with Spratton the previous week. Again,
there was no repeat of the high-scoring exploits of the previous week,
as Islip, ten goal sharpshooters against Dainite, picked up all three
points away to Weedon with a 1-0 win.
