Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Star Award :
Awarded
to Rothenberger Group Division 2 side Wollaston Victoria for their 5-1
humbling of UCL outfit Long Buckby Reserves.
Northamptonshire FA Lower Junior Cup:
Corby Locomotives emulated their runaway namesake with a fine home win
against Peterborough League side Castor and Ailsworth. Brian Farrell
(3), Ryan Hall (2), David Brookes (2), Jamie Cairns, James McKay and
David Holmes all found the target as the visitors were routed 10-1.
Strip Mills, Corby Khalsa Reserves and Whitefield Reserves also hit the
goal trail against Peterborough opposition. Strip Mills and Whitefield
struck six times each, whilst Khalsa were one shy, striking in five.
Shaun Muir netted a treble as Strip Mills romped to a 6-1 away win,
whilst Matt Jones bagged a brace for Whitefield in their 6-0 home
victory against Kings Sutton. Steve Macabe was the pick of Khalsa’s
marksmen, picking up two in their 5-3 home win against Oundle Town
Reserves. However the clean sweep against Peterborough league sides was
denied as Ise Lodge succumbed to a surprise 1-0 defeat to Peterborough
SSPIO.
The perfect record against North Bucks League sides also went out of the
window as Staverton crashed to a spectacular 7-1 defeat at home to
Yardley Gobion. Garry Park
and Rob Clarke hit the goals for Gretton as they saw off Wicken Sports
whilst James Westley’s treble for Old Grammarians put them on the way to
a 5-3 victory over Brackley Sports Reserves.
Crick, Rising Sun, and Corby Pegasus Reserves succumbed to higher level
opposition losing to Bugbrooke Reserves (2-1), ON Chenecks Reserves
(1-0) and Rushden & Higham Reserves (9-1). Things were better however
for Kislingbury Reserves who dispatched Rothwell Corinthians Reserves
2-1, with goals from Dean Wilkinson and Adam Frost. Wollaston put Long
Buckby Reserves to the sword, carving the opposition open time and again
to win 5-1. Danny O’Neil struck a brace for the home side.
A Michael Davis double for Wilby put them on their way to a 4-0 home win
over Real Dragoon of the Town League. Sadly that was the only victory
over Town league outfits as Wilbarston went down 4-1 to Mereway United
and Milton Reserves went down 3-2 to SPA.
Bective cannot buy a win in league or cup, tasting defeat at the hands
of Weldon Reserves. Austen Milne, Stuart Porter, Steve Scales, and Dan
O'Sullivan struck in the 4-0 result. Aaron Crampton and Dean Mills found
the target for Harpole Reserves as they progressed to the second round
with a 2-1 win over Saxons. Blisworth Reserves, Burton United, Clipston,
Danesholme Vikings, Great Doddington, and Nomads Reserves complete the
League’s representation in round two.
Northamptonshire Area Cup:
AFC Wymington maintained their impressive run against local rivals,
slaying the Dragons of Higham 3-2. Jason Fallaize struck the decisive
goal.
Russell Roofing Premier Division:
Weldon remain top of the pile with a 5-0 away win at Corby Pegasus.
Brixworth defeated Corby Khalsa by the same scoreline to record their
maiden league victory. James Feasey was the pick of the marksmen with a
brace. Harpole and Whitefield shared seven goals, with the South
Northants side coming out on top 4-3. Kislingbury overcame near
neighbours Heyford 2-1. Moulton defeated Milton 2-0 with goals from
Peter Smith and Marc Ansell. Roade overcame Great Houghton 3-0.
Keystone Roofing Supplies Division 1:
Leigh Chapman nabbed a brace for Finedon Volta in their comfortable 4-2
win over struggling Cold Ashby. Drayton Grange moved to first place with
a 2-0 win over previous incumbents Welford. Earls Barton go second with
a 3-1 home victory against Spratton. Liam Knight hit the winner for
Barton. Wootton St George moved fourth taking a point from their
stalemate with Ringstead. Stanion put daylight between themselves and
those sides at the foot of the table with a 2-0 win at Stanwick. Could
this be the spark that ignites the train of their promotion push?
Rothenberger Tools Division 2:
It was the same old story for Ristee who went down to their fourth
successive league defeat. Gretton were the beneficiaries running out 4-2
victors in the only game of the day.
Division 3:
No games.
Division 4:
Long Buckby Ravens extended the gap at the top to five points despite
failing to win at Corby Talisman. Sean Conopo and the prolific Steve
O’Brien netted for the leaders, but they were pegged back by efforts
from Darren Harrison and Scott MacIntyre. Doubles from Tim Craig and
Dominic Machal propelled Kettering Park Rovers into third as they
overcame spirited resistance from Walgrave Amber to win 5-3. FC Higham
and Corby Hearth’s collective troubles continue. Yardley eased to a 2-1
win at home to Higham through a Robin Harte brace, whilst Hearth crashed
4-2 against Corby rivals Kingswood.
West Haddon defeated Kennedy’s 4-1.
Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Reserve
Premier Division:
Craig Cassidy netted a hat-trick as Harborough overcame Moulton 3-2. The
battle of the ‘A’ sides went in ON Chenecks favour as they eased to
victory at Bugbrooke 4-0.
Reserve Division 1:
Stanion took advantage of Orchard Park’s 4-0 reverse to Wollaston, to go
second on goal difference. Danny Stratford and Will Wells each doubled
up as the Whites took the points with a 4-1 win against Heyford. Paul
Macintyre scored the Heyford consolation.
James Goodman’s treble for Ringstead saw off Wootton 3-0. Queen
Eleanor romped to a 4-0 away win at Weldon ‘A’ whilst Bugbrooke ‘B’ went
down 2-0 to the Locos.
Reserve Division 2:
A fine 9-4 win on the road allowed Earls Barton to leapfrog non-playing
Harpole ‘A’ into top spot. A double from Gavin OIiff had seen Weedon get
ahead in the game before they were pegged back by a lesson in superior
finishing. Crick enjoyed a 5-1 victory to move into third. Stanwick gave
themselves breathing space from those at the bottom with a 2-0 win at
Spratton. Drayton recorded their first win of the season, defeating
Wilby 4-2 to move off the foot of the table.
