Northamptonshire FA Area Cup:
Gavin Oliff may have himself a new superstition after his exploits this
week in the tie between Weedon Reserves and Charlton. Whatever his
pre-match routine involved certainly worked as he single-handedly
accounted for the opposition, scoring all of the goals in Weedon’s 5-0
win. While nobody else in the competition came close to his
sharpshooting tally, there were a further five marksmen who found braces
in abundance. Steve
Musgrave chalked his up for Wollaston Reserves in their 3-2 win away at
ON Chenecks ‘A’, and Steve Harrison, and Darren Harrison marked their
names twice as Corby Everards and Corby Talisman beat Yardley Gobion
Reserves and Harpole ‘A’ by the same scoreline. Ryan Knight and Jon
Ogden rounded out the quintet with their strikes as Stanwick Reserves
saw off Middleton Cheney Reserves 4-1.
Sam Desborough struck the winner for Finedon Volta in their entertaining
4-2 away to Corby Kingswood, and Andy Renaldson popped up for Kettering
Park Rovers in their 3-2 home win against Earls Barton Reserves.
Daventry Drayton Grange provided the days other high spot against
opposition from other leagues as they nicked a win away at Wicken Sports
4-3. Sadly the other fixtures went in favour of the Peterborough and
Northampton Town leagues. Werrington and Kingscliffe dumped out Orchard
Park Reserves and Locomotives Reserves respectively, while Weldon ‘A’
and Heyford Reserves went out to Town League sides Blisworth ‘A’ and
Strip Mills Reserves. West Haddon Reserves, Old Grammarians Reserves,
Spratton Reserves, Wootton Reserves and Crick Reserves will all
