firing in braces, out of a total of 253 goals
Russell Roofing Premier Division:
Milton’s recent league form suggested that their tie away at Harborough
Town would go in the host’s favour. However the magic of any cup
competition is that form counts for nought, and so it was here. Despite
playing with 10 men for much of the game, a brace from Paul Lee
cancelled out Andy Wilson’s early effort and saw Milton take the lead. A
late penalty gifted Harborough the chance to force extra time and Tom
Robson duly converted. With no further score penalties were needed, and
it took no less than nine spot-kicks apiece to separate the sides. In
the end Milton ran out 5-4 winners.
Two goals from Dragoslav Kunic and a solo from Glenn Harris saw Corby
Pegasus dump out holders Kislingbury 3-1. League leaders Weldon also
progressed to the next round in regulation time, knocking out
Kislingbury’s rivals Harpole. The early exit for the reigning champions
means that they can re-double their efforts in closing the gap in the
league. Last season’s beaten semi-finalists Medbourne and Roade both
progressed to the second round with home wins. Warren Barry struck twice
for Medbourne as they saw off Whitefield Norpole 4-2. Roade eliminated
Heyford after a 2-1 win. Corby Khalsa’s up and down form continued as
they were beaten by the same scoreline away at Moulton.

Stanion took an unexpected early lead with a freakish goal in the
opening few seconds of their game with Finedon Volta. Rob Allan moved in
to close down a clearance from the goalkeeper, which hit him square in
the face and rebounded straight into the net. However, the home side’s
luck ran out there and then as solo efforts from Leigh Chapman and Sean
Wesley complemented John Tarry’s double to see Volta progress 4-2. Alex
Willis earned the bragging rights for Stanwick with the only goal of the
derby between Stanwick and Ringstead. Welford thumped Cold Ashby 6-0 in
the other derby in the round.
Elsewhere the holders and last season’s runners-up both eased into the
next round. Earls Barton began the defence of their prize with a 3-0 win
at home to Kettering Nomads, Kris Hall putting them ahead. Steve
Gibson’s solo effort was sufficient to see Corby Kingfisher through 1-0
at the expense of Drayton Grange.
Rothenberger Tools Division 2 KO Cup:
Patrick Daniels netted twice for defending side Danesholme Vikings as
they comfortably reached round two winning 3-1 away at Great Doddington.
Last seasons semi-finalists
Clipston moved into round two with a 1-0 win at Ranelagh. Paddy O’Brien
scored a brace for Bective as they earned a 4-2 win over Corby Strip
Mills. Jamie Hunter also bagged a brace as Burton United got the better
of a ten-goal tie against Islip to win 6-4.
Tom Woods and Lee Warman scored the goals that put Wollaston
Victoria into the hat for the next round at the expense of Weedon.
Gretton needed extra time to dispose of Old Grammarians 3-1.
Division 3 KO Cup:
Ise Lodge were made to work hard for their victory over Corby Everards.
Tyler Banfield struck the crucial goal as the home side held on to win
5-4. Steve Harrison netted twice for Everards. It was not a successful
day for Corby sides in the competition as the Eagles and Locomotives
also crashed out. Both sides went down 3-1 away, Locomotives at
Hillmorton and the Eagles at Wellingborough WMC. Wilbarston heaped more
misery on Dainite Sports with a 5-3 away win. Jamie Tann opened the
scoring for the visitors. Saxons meanwhile romped to a 6-1 win away at
Crick.
Division 4 KO Cup:
FC Higham shared in the cup magic in much the same way as Milton did.
Poor league form was again forgotten as they eliminated West Haddon 4-2.
Mark Willers notched a hat-trick for Higham. Marcus Mabbutt’s brace
helped ensure that fellow Higham side Dragons had their hopes snuffed
out by Walgrave Amber who won 4-2. Corby Talisman’s Jamie Farrell also
got into the double-bagging act, helping his side to a 3-2 win over
Kettering Park Rovers. An unfortunate own goal proved the
difference-maker between the sides.
Michael Ball, Jamie Cannon and John Stanley all struck for CSV United as
they ran out 3-2 winners over Yardley United. Jack Scally netted twice
in consolation for Yardley. Kingswood routed Kennedy’s 5-0 in the
remaining tie of the round.

Premier Division KO Cup:
Both the holders and runners-up were eliminated in the first round.
Milton Reserves dumped out holders Pegasus 5-3, with Simon McDonald
netting two. Moulton meanwhile accounted for Whitefield 3-0, thanks in
part to a brace from Dan Raymond. Mark Reed and Ashley Clamp netted the
goals for ON Chenecks ‘A’ who eased past Weldon 2-1. Harborough and
Bugbrooke ‘A’ both fired in five times in their ties with Kislingbury
and Kettering Nomads respectively.
Bugbrooke ran out 5-2 winners and Harborough 5-0.
Harpole edged past Corby Khalsa 3-1.
Reserve Division 1 KO Cup:
A double from Ant Lamond helped Weldon ‘A’ dump out runners-up Bugbrooke
‘B’ 4-0. Ringstead also scored four after doubles from James Goodman and
Ben Cramp, but it was not enough as Wollaston ran out 6-4 winners.
Kieran Flower and Pete Morrissey also bagged braces for Brixworth, who
were 6-1 winners at home to Stanion. Heyford meanwhile steamed to a 3-0
win at Corby Locomotives.
Goals from Dale Lewis and Gary Edwards ensured James King Blisworth
progressed at the expense of Wootton St George. The 2-0 result means
that Blisworth have gone a mammoth 540 minutes without conceding a goal
this season. In fact, the Tunnelmen have not conceded in a competitive
game since May 16.
Finedon struggled to field 11 players for their tie against Medbourne,
so can take immense heart from the fact that they forced the tie to go
to penalties. The efforts took their toll on Volta who succumbed in the
twelve-yard lottery.
Reserve Division 2 KO Cup:
Daniel Darker’s hat-trick secured the win and all three points for
Orchard Park as they completed a miserable day for Queen Eleanor,
running out 3-1 winners.
Russell Roofing Premier Division:
In the only league tie of the day, Queen Eleanor could not build on last
week’s positives going down to Brixworth 3-1 at home. James Feasy, Mark
Drake and Darryl Birch all netted for the victors.
Keystone Roofing Supplies Division 1:
Two goals in the first two minutes were enough to settle the tie between
James King Blisworth and Wootton St George. Kris Charles netted the
opener for Blisworth before Eddie Stewart added the second with less
than 120 seconds on the clock.
Division 3:
Gerome O’Rourke struck for Wilby but it was little more than a
consolation as Tony Walker and Adam Mode earned the spoils for rivals
Rising Sun 2-1.
Division 4:
AFC Wymington closed the gap on Long Buckby by blitzing Corby Hearth
7-0. Player manager Jason Fallaize topped the score sheet, claiming two
of the goals himself.
Reserve Division 1:
Daniel Darker’s hat-trick secured the win and all three points for
Orchard Park as they completed a miserable day for Queen Eleanor,
running out 3-1 winners.
Reserve Division 2:
Harpole ‘A’ had a day to remember, and Dainite one to forget, thumping
in nine goals without reply. Lawrence Bulliman helped himself to four,
while Kev Ratcliffe and Chris Anderson snatched two apiece. Ashley
Burton rounded out the scoring.
