Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Star Award :
Wollaston
Victoria Reserves for ending James King Blisworth Reserves unbeaten run
of over 500 minutes of league football without conceding a goal.
Russell Roofing Premier Division:
The struggles continue for the four sides at the wrong end of the
Premier Division table. Khalsa and Queen Eleanor made lengthy journeys
to Heyford and Medbourne respectively, but both came home empty-handed.
Paul Currier and Matt Morrissey both netted for Heyford as they
claimed a 2-1 win. Rob Mobsby and Kevin Fisher were the Medbourne
marksmen, as they accounted for Eleanor by the same margin. Basement
boys Milton ended up on the wrong end of a 3-1 defeat at the hands of
Kislingbury. Liam Butcher netted twice for the visitors.
Normal service also continued at the top of the table. Derek Simmons
scored the third of Weldon’s goals as they entertained near-neighbours
Corby Pegasus, running out 3-1 winners. Harborough stay second with a
1-0 away win over Moulton. Brixworth and Roade shared the points with a
2-2 draw.
Keystone Roofing Supplies Division 1:
There were six goals apiece for Blisworth and Ringstead. Eddie Stewart
grabbed two for Blisworth as they cruised to a fine 6-1 away win over
Stanwick. Veteran Richard Chaffer netted the sixth, his first goal of
the season. Ringstead meanwhile defeated Stanion 6-2. Alex Wills grabbed
a hat-trick and Danny Tarr a brace for the visitors. Craig Misciali
scored a consolation brace for the hosts. The result means that
Ringstead replace Drayton Grange in top spot after their surprise 3-1
reverse at home to Kettering Nomads. Spratton’s search for a first point
of the season goes on for another week although they ran visitors
Finedon Volta close. In the end however Andy Griffin’s effort proved
decisive as Volta took the points with a 3-2 victory. The Earls Barton –
Kingfisher tie ended goalless.
Rothenberger Tools Division 2:
Bective continue to slide towards the foot of the table as Danesholme
did the double over them. Stout defending kept the visitors at bay,
despite Carl Juzyk’s effort, but a brace from Carl Staunton set the home
side on the way to a 4-1 win. Three of the four teams below Bective were
in action, but they could not take advantage as all slumped to home
defeats. Great Doddington were on the receiving end of the heaviest
defeat, shipping five without reply to Gretton. Matty Graham and George
Donnelly both scored twice to move their side into double figures in
points. A Jake Websy double helped Islip sink Wollaston Victoria 4-1,
while a double from Matt Judge proved the difference for Ranelagh who
defeated Ristee 5-3. Jamie Smith struck all of Burton United’s goals as
they defeated Orchard Park 3-2. Clipston moved third in the table after
winning 3-1 at home to Grammarians. Russ Eggleton netted twice for the
hosts.
Division 3:
Dainite have the dubious distinction of being the second side to concede
50 goals after being thrashed 10-1 away to Ise Lodge. The bulk of the
damage was caused by Luke Churchill, Sam Cope and James White who all
scored two goals. James Jameson also claimed two goals as Wellingborough
WMC claimed the points, and more importantly the bragging rights with a
3-2 win over rivals Saxons. Wilby’s Jethro Hoy was another to score
twice as his side defeated Hillmorton 5-2.
At the opposite end of the table Staverton could be forgiven for
thinking that the footballing gods have truly turned their faces from
them. In ordinary circumstances scoring five goals would secure the win.
These however were anything but ordinary. Despite a hat-trick from Jo
Kasonga, Staverton went down 8-5 to Corby Locomotives.
Wilbarston also suffered from the capricious nature of fate as
they went down 1-0 to Corby Eagles. An Eagles corner was taken up by the
wind and ‘keeper Paul Cooper could only push it into his goal.
Division 4:
Alastair Foot, Andrew Cadman and Chris Langsford all scored to upset
high-flying AFC Wymington 3-0, who now slip to fourth. A 2-2 draw for
Kingswood away to Yardley United was enough to move them fourth. Damon
Burton struck in the second half to deny the Corby side the win.
Corby Talisman are the biggest beneficiaries moving second after
a 5-2 win over Kennedys. Darren Harrison and Luke McCauley scooped four
of the goals between them.
Ryan Grant was the pick of the marksmen as Long Buckby Ravens
comfortably dispatched Higham Dragons 4-0 to open up a nine-point gap at
the top. FC Higham moved above their rivals, with a 1-0 win away at
Kettering Park Rovers.
Marcus Mabbut opened the scoring for Walgrave Amber who condemned Corby
Hearth to a tenth league defeat on the spin with a 4-0 score line.
Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Reserve
Premier Division:
The top six remained unchanged this week. Joe Mwambari opened the
scoring for Kislingbury as they earned a 3-0 derby win over rivals
Bugbrooke ‘A’. Second placed Weldon also recorded a derby win, thrashing
Khalsa 8-0. Barnes Gladman and Aaron Watts struck for Harborough as they
eased to a 2-1 win over Roade. Fourth placed Whitefield Norpol defeated
Kettering Nomads 6-3. Errol Sutherland cancelled out Aaron Blundell’s
effort as ON Chenecks ‘A’ and Moulton shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw.
Moulton stay ahead by a single point. Milton meanwhile thumped Harpole
4-1.
Reserve Division 1:
Missed chances cost Blisworth dear as they tasted defeat for the first
time this season. Opponents Wollaston opened the scoring from the spot,
and in doing so became the first team to score against Blisworth this
season. Ryan Yates pulled one back but his side hit the self destruct
button, going down to nine men, before Wollaston nicked it late on with
their only clear-cut chance of the game. Brixworth and Stanion both took
advantage of the defeat to move above Blisworth in the table. Kieran
Flower’s goal gave Brixworth a share of the points at home to
second-placed Heyford, while Stanion saw off Finedon Volta 2-1. Charlie
Wright netted two for Queen Eleanor, but it proved to be no more than a
consolation as his side went down 7-2 at home to Orchard Park. Medbourne
hammered Ringstead 11-0
Reserve Division 2:
Harpole ‘A’ recorded the biggest win of the day blowing Wilby away with
forward play of exhibition standard. Ashley Burton (3), Kevin
Richardson, Harrison Winters (both 2), and solo efforts from Jack Rowe,
Edward Phelan, Lawrence Bulliman, Daniel Clarke and Barnaby Lane
combined to thrash the opposition 12-0. Chris Cowley helped himself to
four of Weedon’s goals as they hit Dainite for six without reply. David
Mayhew netted twice for Grammarians as they tied 2-2 with Drayton
Grange. Earls Barton stay top after a 2-1 win away at Crick.
