Sports for securing their maiden league victory this season.
NFA Area Cup - 3rd Round:
The likelihood of the final being an all-Combination affair increased
after wins for Walgrave Amber and Kettering Park Rovers. Garry Munnelly
and Joe Gartland scored the goals that put out the Town League’s sole
surviving representatives Blisworth ’A’ 2-1. Llyod Bullock netted twice
for Park Rovers who won 4-2 away at Peterborough Rovers. The only
non-Combination side left in the competition are Kingscliffe Reserves of
the Peterborough League, who defeated Wollaston Victoria Reserves 3-2.
Long Buckby Ravens were made to work hard for their 2-1 win over
Kennedys. Sean Conopo and Kris Desmond scored for the home side before
Perry Rodgers pulled one back for Kennedys. Near neighbours West Haddon
Reserves were also at home to East Northants opposition in the shape of
FC Higham. Paul Hakin’s brace was sufficient to see the visitors through
2-1. Player-manager Jason
Fallaize got the first for free-scoring AFC Wymington who saw off Queen
Eleanor 5-1. Corby Talisman
and Brixworth shared seven goals between them. Luke McCauley scored a
hat-trick to see Talisman through 4-3. Everards were the final team
through, progressing after a 4-1 away win over Drayton Grange Reserves.
Russell Roofing Premier Division:
It was a case of two points dropped for Harborough Town, as their 1-1
draw with Corby Pegasus allowed leaders Weldon to open up a four point
gap after a 3-0 win away at Queen Eleanor. John Coates scored for first
for Pegasus who were then forced to withstand wave after wave of
Harborough attack. The equaliser came after a defensive mistake, and
Harborough survived a late scare when Dragoslav Krunic smashed a rocket
off of the post. Kislingbury also took advantage, moving to within a
point of the Leicestershire outfit after Daniel Lumb scored the winner
in their 3-2 victory over Moulton.
A bleak midwinter seems set to ensue for Milton after they were
unable to capitalise on Queen Eleanor’s reverse and stay rooted to the
bottom. Neil Champelovier’s brace heaped more misery on the strugglers
who went down 4-1 away at Brixworth.
Harpole and Medbourne were also amongst the goals scoring eleven
between them. Scott Mills
was the pick of the Harpole marksmen, chipping in with a brace as they
saw off Roade 5-2, whilst Mebourne’s Martin Anderson repeated the feat
in his side’s 6-2 success at home to Whitefield Norpol.
Keystone Roofing Supplies Division 1:
Ringstead reclaimed top spot from non-playing Drayton with a 2-0 win
over rivals Stanwick. Mike Pettigrew got the opener. A double from Lee
Sinclair helped Kingfisher into second place, after a comfortable 4-0
home win over struggling Spratton. Stanion recorded only their second
league win of the season, a 3-2 success at Cold Ashby, whilst Blisworth
surrendered a two goal lead at home to Wootton to lose 3-2.
Rothenberger Tools Division 2:
A 7-1 away win over Weedon saw Danesholme back to winning ways and
secured their hold on top spot. Orchard Park secured a 1-0 win away at
Strip Mills to prevent the Vikings from extending the gap to more than
six points. Clipston ceded third place to Gretton after their 2-1 defeat
at Kirby Road. Stewart Chapman gave the home side the lead, reacting
quickest when the ball came back off the apex of the goal to tap in from
three yards. Stuart Barby restore parity for Clipston with a carbon copy
of Gretton’s goal, before Chapman doubled his tally with another close
range finish on 40 minutes. Carl Bedford scored twice in Burton’s 3-2
home success over Great Doddington, while Ashley Bird netted Islip’s
third in their 3-1 home win over Ristee. David Njotsa netted the second
for Old Grammarians, 2-0 victors over rivals Wollaston. All three sides
climb above Clipston after their wins. Bective drew 1-1 with Ranelagh.
Division 3:
After a mammoth 42 goals in their last seven league games Ise Lodge were
stunned by resilient Rising Sun who became only the second side to take
points from them this season. Tony Walker netted twice to give the
Wellingborough side a 3-3 draw. At the opposite end of the table Dainite
were finally able to record their maiden league victory of the season at
the tenth attempt. Andy Hiron netted twice to give them a 3-1 win over
Hillmorton. Nine goals were shared between Crick and Wilby, with the
home side coming out on top after braces from Aaron Jones and Darren
Herbert. Saxons edged out Wilbarston 3-2, whilst the all-Corby tie
between the Locomotives and the Eagles was settled in the favour of the
Eagles 7-3.
Division 4:
James Shiner netted twice for CSV United whose 4-1 win keeps Corby
Hearth searching for their first win of the season. Higham Dragons
continue to struggle, finding themselves on the wrong end of a 5-1
mauling at home to West Haddon. Second place Kingswood eased to a 3-0
success over Yardley.
Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Reserve
Premier Division:
Matt Jones struck the only goal of the game for Whitefield in their
success over Khalsa, to move his side within touching distance of
leaders Kislingbury. Corby Pegasus were hoping for some early festive
cheer in their home tie with near-neighbours Gretton but it was not to
be. The hosts surrendered a three goal advantage to go down 5-4 A Will
Braines strike secured the win for Milton over local rivals Bugbrooke
‘A’ 3-1. Despite a brace from Daniel Morris, Kettering Nomads could not
overcome ON Chenecks ‘A’ who ran out 5-3 winners. Daniel Moloney sealed
Roade’s win over fellow South Northants side Harpole 2-1.
Reserve Division 1:
Jay Arnold (4) and Danny Darker (2) were the pick of the scorers for
league leaders Orchard Park, 7-3 winners over Corby Locomotives.
Laurence McCall netted two for Medbourne in their 5-2 success over
Stanion. Heyford were also amongst the goals, putting Ringstead to the
sword 5-0. Matt Hogg netted two for the hosts. Weldon ‘A’ had the
quietest game scoring a mere two goals in their win over Finedon Volta.
Reserve Division 2:
Harry Brindle netted the critical goal that keeps Earls Barton’s
undefeated streak intact, with a 3-2 win over Weedon. Ashley Burton
grabbed a hat-trick for Harpole ‘A’ in their 4-3 success over Spratton,
which see’s them stay second. Wilby repeated the efforts of the first
team, losing out in a high-scoring game to Islip. Dean Carey scored
three, and Karl Courtney once yet six goals from Islip dented their
hopes of a win. 6-4 was the final score. Craig Turnbull and Daniel
Bailey netted for Old Grammarians, 2-0 winners over Stanwick.
