Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Star Award :
Earls
Barton Reserves, who became 2009-10 Reserve Division Two Champions with
a 4-0 win over Wilby Reserves.
Russell Roofing Premier Division:
When does a bad run become freefall? A pertinent question for Weldon,
whose post-Christmas form has yielded just seven points from six games,
compared to the mammoth eighteen in the six games before the break.
Harpole were the hosts on this occasion and condemned the high-flyers to
a third defeat in four outings.
Scott Mills and Elliot Dove both netted in the 2-1 success that
put a serious dent in Weldon’s title dreams. Kislingbury, Medbourne and
Brixworth all took advantage to move clear as Weldon slipped to fourth.
Brixworth will be disappointed not to have taken maximum points from
their encounter with Whitefield Norpol. Daryl Birch opened the scoring
for the hosts, but the game ended 3-3. A win would have put clear
daylight between them and Weldon, with the same amount of games played,
but the gap is just a solitary point.
Kislingbury are the new leaders, and rode their luck somewhat at home to
Roade. Danny Smith smashed in a brace, but an own goal proved the
difference-maker as they edged out their opponents 4-3 to give
Kislingbury a four point lead. Medbourne ran out 3-2 winners over Milton
to move third. Honours were even as Heyford entertained Queen Eleanor.
Mark Smith and Gareth Errington scored for their respective sides to
ensure a point apiece.
Andrew Cox grabbed a hat-trick as Khalsa swept aside Corby rivals
Pegasus 4-0.
Keystone Roofing Supplies Division 1:
Wins for three of the chasing pack heaped more pressure on leaders
Ringstead, who slumped to a surprise 2-1 defeat at near neighbours
Stanwick. Richard Darnell and Chris Jones scored the goals to ensure
that Stanwick’s run of ten successive defeats is a distant memory. Edd
Stewart netted his eleventh goal of the season for Blisworth, who
cruised to a 4-1 victory at Finedon Volta. John Tarry netted the
consolation. Ian Symington got the winner for Nomads, 2-1 victors over
Wootton, while Kingfisher returned from Cold Ashby, sporting all three
points from a 5-1 success.
Spratton boosted their survival chances with a much-needed 1-0 win over
Drayton Grange.
Rothenberger Group Division 2:
With Gretton winning 4-1 at Weedon attention was turned to the clash
between Danesholme and Old Grammarians. Both sides had led the table
earlier in the season, and a 1-1 draw did more favours for Danesholme
than it did the Wellingborough side. Clipston meanwhile went down to a
heavy home defeat to Ranelagh. Matt Judge slammed home a hat-trick for
the victors. Orchard Park moved to within a point of Clipston after a
4-1 win over Strip Mills, inspired by George Coleman’s double. James
Hudson scored the crucial third goal as Wollaston condemned Ristee to a
thirteenth league defeat of the season, winning 3-2. Shane Richardson
was also the match-winning marksmen for Great Doddington, 2-1 victors
over Burton. Bective and Islip tied 1-1.
Division 3:
Ise Lodge continued their inexorable march towards a second successive
league championship with a 2-1 win over Wellingborough WMC. Luke
McIllroy opened the scoring. Darren Burt’s hat-trick secured the points
to ensure that Corby Eagles took all three points and remain second,
after a 3-2 win over Saxons. Rising Sun stay third after seeing off
Hillmorton by the same margin. Wilby and Everards both enjoyed the
biggest winning margin of the day, seeing off the opposition by six
clear goals. Dan Nolan scored three, and Kieran Reynolds a double as
Wilby romped to a 6-0 home win over Wilbarston, while Everards thrashed
hapless Crick 7-1. Steve Harrison bagged a hat-trick whilst Scott
Collins chipped in a brace. Dainite won their second successive match,
seeing off Corby Loco’s 2-1.
Division 4:
The top of the table clash between Long Buckby Ravens and AFC Wymington
was settled in favour of the hosts. Kris Desmond scored the first of the
Ravens goals as they eased to a 3-1 victory. West Haddon took full
advantage, defeating Walgrave by the same margin to move second in the
table. Kingswood stay second after a 2-1 win over Kennedys. Dom Machell
netted twice as Kettering Park Rovers ensured that they remain in the
mix after a 3-1 win over Yardley. CSV also enjoyed a six- goal margin of
victory seeing off FC Higham 8-2. Simon Williams (3) and Matty Brown (2)
were the pick of the scorers. John Lawman’s brace was sufficient for
Higham Dragons to see off Corby Hearth 2-0.

Premier Division:
Adam Russell scored the first to set Whitefield on the road to a 3-0 win
over Corby Pegasus, and returning to the top of the table. Weldon
squandered a 2-0 half time lead to draw 3-3 with ten-man Harborough.
Derek Simmons put Weldon ahead, and Steven Scales doubled their
advantage. Barnes Gladman pulled one back for the hosts, before Simmons
converted a penalty to put Weldon 3-1 up. Late goals have been the
Harborough trademark this season and so it proved once again as Paul
Lewis grabbed a brace in second half stoppage-time to secure an unlikely
draw. Former leaders Kislingbury’s winless run extends to seven games
after being held 2-2 by Moulton. Dan Raymond and Greg Jolley scored for
Moulton. There were 5-0 wins for Bugbrooke ‘A’ and Harpole over Milton
and Khalsa respectively, whilst Gretton and ON Chenecks ‘A’ drew 1-1.
Reserve Division 1:
Brixworth took full advantage of one of their games in hand over Orchard
Park, seeing off Blisworth 5-3, to close the gap at the top to nine
points. A 2-1 home success for Ringstead means that the league’s
leakiest defence are no longer enjoying a revival, as opposed to being
on an upward cycle. They will be grateful not to have face Stanion, for
whom Thomas Makra proved red-hot, smashing home four of his sides goals
in their 5-0 home success over Wootton. Paul Crowley and John Hammell
scored for Weldon ‘A’ and Corby Loco’s respectively as they shared the
points 1-1. Heyford won the second part of their double header with
Queen Eleanor 2-1.
Reserve Division 2:
Earls Barton recovered from their surprise defeat at Spratton
last week in style, making the short trip to Wilby and returning with a
4-0 victory. Chris Dunbar scored twice to claim the Championship for his
side. With games in hand over Weedon, Harpole ‘A’ look favourites to
claim second spot. A 4-0 win over Dainite reinforced that opinion, and
moved them two points clear of their rivals from the other side of the
motorway. Grammarians’ mathematical hopes of claiming the other
promotion slot were dealt a blow as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat away at
Drayton Grange. Islip saw off Stanwick 2-0.
