Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Star Award :
Gretton
who sealed their tenth successive win in style.
Russell Roofing Premier Division:
With Brixworth not playing, Kislingbury seized the initiative and moved
six points clear with a 4-2 win at Corby Pegasus. Weldon meanwhile
recovered from their recent wobbles with a much-needed home win over
Queen Eleanor by the same margin. Sean Brennan scored twice to ensure
there was no repeat of the previous week’s surprise reverse. Wins for
Harpole and Harborough keep alive their mathematical chances of
snatching the Premier Division crown. Dave Barrett struck for Harpole in
their 1-0 success over Milton, while Ben Gamble and Ryan Goodband
secured Harborough’s 2-1 victory over Heyford. Tommy Stratfield opened
the scoring for Whitefield Norpol in their 3-1 over Moulton.
Keystone Roofing Supplies Division 1:
Welford squandered the opportunity to move clear of Ringstead slumping
to a 3-2 reverse at Wootton. Ben Ward got the winner for Wootton who
keep alive their slender chances of securing top spot. Carlton Ellwood’s
treble was the highlight of the game as his Stanwick side saw off
Finedon Volta 4-1. Danny Watts got Volta’s consolation from the spot.
John Gribben and John Sludden netted for Kingfisher as they saw off
Stanion 2-1.
Rothenberger Group Division 2:
Gretton underlined their title credentials in superb style, with a Star
Award winning 9-0 battering of Bective Wanderers. George Donnelly will
take the lions share of the plaudits, and deservedly so as he grabbed
four of the goals. Stuart Chapman came closest of his team mates to
matching his feat, weighing in with a brace. Danesholme Vikings pose the
biggest threat yet seem unable to capitalise on their games in hand,
throwing away more points in their 5-2 defeat away at Grammarians. James
Hegarty got the OG’s on their way to victory which was sealed by an
unfortunate own goal. Clipston did their chances no harm at all, and may
be poised to gain from the Vikings indifferent form despite having
played several games more, with a nap win at home to Ristee. Matt Bates
opened the scoring as the hosts romped to a 5-0 success. Marcus Thomas
scored the all important fifth goal for Corby Strip Mills who edged out
Islip 5-4. Sam Smith netted twice for Islip
who could not secure a point.
Great Doddington’s Duane Hall was another brace-bagging marksmen,
snatching his in the 4-1 success over Weedon. The result leaves Weedon
all but certain to be playing in Division Three next season. High-flyers
Ranelagh meanwhile succumbed to a Jamie Hunter strike and went down 1-0
to Burton United. James Hudson got the first of Wollaston’s goals in
their 2-0 success over Orchard Park.
Division 3:
Wilby recorded their second 6-0 win in three home games. Daniel Nolan
netted three, and there was a brace for Conner Hartwell as they saw off
local rivals Wellingborough WMC.
Ise Lodge meanwhile secured their fifteenth league win of the
campaign, 3-1 away to Wellingborough Saxons.
Division 4:
Steve O’Brien popped up with two more goals for Long Buckby Ravens as
they took another step closer to league success, seeing off Yardley 4-0.
They were helped by a surprise 2-1 defeat for West Haddon. Dominic
Machell and Mark Lister scored the goals for Kettering Park Rovers in
their success. Paul Malivoir netted the winner for FC Higham in their
3-2 success over Kingswood. The defeat leaves Kingswood’s title hopes in
tatters. Matt Brown got two for CSV who inflicted a twenty-first
successive defeat on Corby Hearth. There was a brace too for Luke
McCauley as Talisman saw off Higham Dragons 2-0.
Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Reserve
Premier Division:
Mike Wallace netted three times for Harpole who eased to a 5-2 win over
Pegasus Reserves. Kislingbury went down to another defeat, losing 3-2 to
Roade despite Dean Wilkinson’s double. Mark Watson netted twice for
Khalsa who got the better of rivals Gretton 4-2. Bugbrooke ‘A’ pulled
out a surprise 7-0 win over ON Chenecks ‘A’.
Reserve Division 1:
A 5-2 success at Wollaston, and a 4-3 defeat at Blisworth allowed
Brixworth to close the gap on leaders Orchard Park to nine points. Dale
Lewis scored a hat-trick for Blisworth who retain an interest in the
promotion race, thanks to their games in hand. Phil Chapman and Lawrence
McCall both scored for Medbourne who defeated Heyford 2-0. Stuart
Schofield and Joel Gordon scored the goals for Queen Eleanor in their
2-1 derby-day victory over Wootton St George. Rhys Elavia netted a brace
for Finedon Volta in their 4-3 success over Bugbrooke ‘B’ who stay
rooted to the foot of the table. The Ringstead revival continues
meanwhile after their 2-1 success over Weldon ‘A’.
Reserve
Division 2:
The championship may be sown up for Earls Barton, but they show no sign
of easing up, defeating local rivals Old Grammarians 2-1. The race for
the wooden spoon looks almost certain to be won by Wilby. A 10-0
humbling at the hands of Islip, almost assures them the unwanted
accolade. Dainite also went down to heavy defeat, losing 7-2 at home to
Spratton, but have a two point advantage and four games in hand. Matt
Pheely scored three, and Dan Crask two for Spratton. Dom Page and Shaun
Sparrow got the Leicestershire side’s replies. Crick meanwhile recorded
a 1-0 win over Drayton Grange.
