Duston Garage (Bosch Service) Star Award :
Wilby who
inflicted the first League defeat on Ise Lodge since 28 February 2009.
Russell Roofing
Premier Division:
Nobody seems to want to take a decisive step towards claiming the league
championship. Kislingbury had cemented their position as league leaders
in midweek, yet were undone at the hands of long-term leaders Weldon.
Goals from Dominic Johnson (3) and Michael Chong (2) gave Weldon a 5-1
victory and boost into second place, one point ahead of Brixworth. Ryan
Suter scored for Brixworth in their 1-1 draw with Harpole. They still
have a game in hand over Weldon, but more dropped points do them few
favours. Harborough remain in with a shout after their 5-1 win over
Khalsa. Roade settled their tie with Milton 3-0, thanks to an Andy
Priest double. Strugglers Pegasus and Whitefield had little reason for
cheer after respective defeats. Whitefield went down 3-1 to Queen
Eleanor while Moulton ran out 4-0 winners over Pegasus.
Keystone Roofing Supplies Division 1:
Doubles for Marc Cross and John Gribben secured wins for Blisworth and
Kingfisher respectively. Blisworth saw off sometime leaders Drayton
Grange 6-1, while Kingfisher edged out Finedon Volta 3-2. Blisworth stay
top on goal difference. Welford meanwhile remain in the hunt with Scott
Goodman getting the winner in their 2-1 win over Earls Barton. Stanion
heaped the pressure on opponents Spratton in the battle of the basement,
earning a 1-0 win to move a point clear. Wootton and Nomads drew 2-2.
Rothenberger Group Division 2:
With Gretton winning 4-1 at Islip, Danesholme failed to restrict the gap
at the top to four points, losing 5-3 at home to Ranelagh. Sam Andersen
netted three and there was a brace for James Crawley. Ben Mulcahy netted
twice in Old Grammarians 5-0 win over Burton, as his side moved into
second. James Hudson scored a crucial hat-trick to give Wollaston the
points in an entertaining encounter with Bective Wanderers. Darren
Herring got the other in the 4-3 win. Adam Folwell of Orchard Park went
one better however, getting all four of the goals in his sides 4-0
success over Clipston. Weedon and Ristee meanwhile drew 1-1.
Division 3:
Without a doubt, the result of the day came at Wilby. Connor Hartwell
scored a hat-trick and Michael Davis a brace as the hosts inflicted Ise
Lodge’s first defeat since 28 February 2009, a run of 34 league games,
with a fine 6-3 display. Chasing Everards had Scott Davana to thank for
their 3-0 win over Rising Sun. His brace in the last few minutes of the
game secured the points in what had previously seemed destined to be a
goalless draw. Braces for Liam Swane and Christian Pav helped secure the
5-2 over Dainite win for Saxons. Corby Locomotives surged to a7-0 win
over Wellingborough WMC, while the derby game between Hillmorton and
Crick ended 1-1.
Division 4:
Steve O’Brien moved Long Buckby Ravens one step closer to glory, netting
a brace in his sides’ 6-0 destruction of Corby Hearth. Corby Talisman
drew 4-4 with Kettering Park Rovers to seriously dent the visitors’
hopes of promotion. Luke McCauley grabbed two for the hosts, while
Dominic Machell got a hat-trick for Rovers. Ian Dickson netted twice for
Yardley who edged out Higham Dragons 3-2, while Kennedys completed a
miserable week for Walgrave, easing to a 3-1 win.

Division:
David Harding gave Gretton the lead in their derby game with Weldon, but
that was as good as it got. Weldon equalised from the spot and went on
to win 6-1. This was Weldon’s game in hand over Whitefield and the win
gives them a four point lead at the top. Harborough also played their
game in hand and move level on points with Whitefield after a Barnes
Gladman brace secured a 3-1 win over Harpole.
At the foot of the table Corby Pegasus’ 2-0 win tastes all the sweeter
as both goals came after injuries reduced them to ten men. Grant Thine
got the first on 78 minutes, while Neil Reilly made the points safe in
stoppage time. Pegasus stay bottom but on goal difference only.
Bugbrooke ‘A’ moved up four places with their 3-2 win over Moulton. Matt
Thornber meanwhile got the winner for ON Chenecks ‘A’ in the 2-1 success
over Corby Khalsa.
Reserve Division 1:
Chris Moores and Sean McCabe both scored for Stanion in their 2-1 win
over title-chasing Brixworth. The defeat allows Blisworth back in, and
their 8-0 success over Ringstead, secured by Chris Gale’s four goals,
means that the title will be theirs if they maximum points from their
remaining games. Medbourne also retain an interest with Daniel Gluyas
earning them a 2-1 win over Wootton. Heyford saw off the challenge of
Weldon ‘A’ 3-1. David Falconer opened the scoring as Corby Locomotives
Reserves recorded a big win much like their first team counterparts.
Queen Eleanor were on the receiving end of the 5-2 defeat. Bugbrooke ‘B’
seem to have left it too late to begin their revival, although their 2-0
victory over Finedon Volta is their first win this year. The South
Northants side last recorded three points back in October.
Reserve
Division 2:
A 3-0 win over Drayton Grange puts Harpole ‘A’ in the box seat for
second spot. A game in hand over nearest challengers Weedon could see
them really take charge. Islip moved into mid-table with a 3-1 win at
Crick, while Old Grammarians and Spratton drew 1-1.

APRIL 2010 report by Ian Huckle
Duston
Garage (Bosch Service) Reserve Premier Division:
All three derby games were settled in favour of the home sides. Weldon
moved back to the summit after comfortably defeating Pegasus 4-1. Matt
James scored the only goal of the game as Roade defeated Kislingbury for
the second time in three days to move level on points with their
opponents. Bugbrooke ‘A’ recorded their second win on the spin after a
1-0 victory over Harpole.
ON Chenecks could be forgiven for thinking that they had the perfect
response to their heavy defeat at Bugbrooke on Saturday, taking the lead
from the spot with less than five minutes on the clock. However a brace
from Tom Bott was the spark that ignited opponents Harborough Town and
saw them home to a 4-1 win. George Donnelly also nabbed two either side
of a Brandon Robertson strike for Gretton, but they could not capitalise
as strikes from Adrian Hobson, Casey Lynch and Tom Perkins ensured a
share of the spoils for Nomads.
Reserve Division 1:
With five games in hand over leaders Orchard Park, themselves 3-1
victors over Ringstead, a win was a must for Brixworth as they seek to
overhaul them. Kieron Flower’s brace was the catalyst for All Saints as
they eased Queen Eleanor aside 3-0, to ensure the gap remains at nine
points. Josh Dawson, John Spooner and Scott Rogers all netted for
Blisworth who maintain their promotion hopes after their 3-0 win over
Corby Locomotives. The promotion charge looks to be built on solid
foundations, with the result giving the hosts their eight clean sheet of
the season. Sean McCabe,
Hugh Coull, Liam Fairbrother, Craig Connor, and Andrew Duddy all struck
to avenge Stanion’s 6-1 mauling by opponents Weldon ‘A’ earlier in the
year. The game finished 5-3. Wollaston took the points from their
encounter with Wootton 1-0.
Reserve Division 2:
Adam Henson netted two, and there were solos for Darren Bryan, Richard
Taylor, Jordan Hobley, Steve Ashton and Tom Bodsworth as champions Earls
Barton smashed Drayton Grange 7-2. Weedon took a giant step towards
etching their name as runners-up with a 5-1 win over Dainite. Gavin
Oliff grabbed four of the goals, with the other coming from Adam Freely.
Harpole ‘A’ also hit five against Crick.
