Roofing Premier Division Cup:
Just like
the General Election, there is still no clear winner of the Premier
Division. A week after throwing themselves back into to the title
shake-up, Harborough eliminated Weldon from the picture with a 3-1
success at the home of the long-term pacesetters. Defeat to Medbourne in
midweek left Weldon with a mountain to climb, needing a home win in
their final game and other results going their way. The defeat condemns
Weldon to a third-place finish, while their opponents will battle with
Kislingbury in a straight fight, after they defeated Brixworth 3-2.
Danny Smith netted the third and winning goal for Kislingbury. The
run-in is simple. A Harborough win on Thursday guarantees the crown for
the Leicester side. Should they fail to win, only a Kislingbury victory
over Queen Eleanor next Saturday will deprive them of the prize.
At the opposite end of the table Pegasus seem to have avoided the drop
despite allowing Queen Eleanor to snatch a second equaliser in dramatic
circumstances. Paul Simpson opened the scoring for Pegasus, before Alex
Sewell netted the first of two penalties, after Eleanor were reduced to
ten men. Eleanor pulled a goal back, before Sewell struck his second
spot-kick. Eleanor pulled a second goal back before half-time. Simpson
doubled his tally shortly after the restart, before the visitors missed
a penalty of their own. Spurred on by their failure, they did pull back
to 4-4 before a frenetic last minute. Jamie Burns put Pegasus 5-4 up
before a 25 yard rocket seconds from time earned Eleanor an improbable
point.
Moulton enjoyed a thumping win at home to Khalsa. Nick Worley scored
four on his return, and a Peter Smith double were the notable scorers as
the hosts ran out 8-1 victors. Roade meanwhile signed off with a 1-1
draw at home to Harpole.

WELFORD VICTORIA CLAIMING THE DIVISION ONE LEAGUE CUP
Keystone
Roofing Supplies Division 1:
The Division 1 Cup final on Thursday night provided a dress rehearsal
for the league decider between Blisworth and Welford, and a repeat of
the full-time scoreline from that night would have been sufficient to
secure the crown for Welford. In the event, a 1-0 win for the visitors
Welford banished memories of their penalty heartbreak ensuring that
there is some silverware to celebrate with. Stanion meanwhile capped a
remarkable turnaround, rescuing their season and avoiding the drop with
a home win over Drayton Grange. William Wells and Paul Caswell both
grabbed trebles to secure a 6-2 win.

Group Division 2:
Danesholme Vikings sealed the Division 2 title with a 4-2 home win over
Orchard Park. Jack O’Beirne was the pick of the marksmen netting twice.
Gretton’s challenge fizzled out with a 5-5 draw at home to Burton
United. George Donnelly continued his quest for the top marksman prize,
netting again. Strip Mills 2-1 success over Great Doddington owed as
much to the visitors sloppy finishing as it did their own
counter-attacking prowess.
Strip Mills took the lead with a near post header from a corner, before
Great Doddington equalised after the break. Ricky Gervin then produced
the moment of the match, clearing the ball from his own goal line
downfield to Jack Clelland who calmly finished from the edge of the
area. The season ended on bitter notes for Islip and Ristee, but for
different reasons. Islip were hammered 7-2 at home by Clipston, while
Ristee’s winless run extended to twelve games with a 2-1 loss to Old
Grammarians.
Division 3:
Tyler Amphlett’s fiver in the Cannon Street derby with Wellingborough
WMC propelled Rising Sun into the runners-up spot, a point clear of
Corby Eagles. Stephen Harrison meanwhile capped Everards title success
with a brace. Their 6-0 defeat of Dainite condemned the Leicestershire
side to Division Four football next season. Corby Loco’s meanwhile
smashed Crick 8-2. Brian Farrell grabbed three of the goals. Hillmorton
did the league double over Wilbarston, emerging as 5-1 winners.

LONG BUCKBY RAVENS DIVSION FOUR CHAMPIONS
Division 4:
West Haddon snatched second spot from Kingswood with a surprise 2-0
derby win over champions Long Buckby Ravens. Jay Connolly opened the
scoring for Wymington as they too enjoyed derby success, winning 3-0
against FC Higham. CSV inflicted Kennedys twelfth league defeat of the
season with a 6-0 win.
Duston Garage
(Bosch Service) Reserve Premier Division:
Harborough all but assured themselves of the runners-up spot with a 4-0
win over Gretton. Tom Bott scored twice in the win. At the opposite end,
Pegasus remain mired in trouble after they lost their derby tie with
Khalsa 6-1. Alan Campbell weighed in with three goals, while teammate
Mark Watson claimed a double. Miles Fricker’s treble and Jeff Davies
brace moved Milton clear of the drop-zone, albeit temporarily after a
5-1 success over Nomads.

Division 1:
Orchard Park reclaimed top spot from Blisworth with a 3-0 home win
against the Tunnelmen. The race for the championship is still not over,
but is now a three-way race. Brixworth’s 4-1 win over Finedon Volta
moved them clear of Medbourne, and meant that their 3-0 success over
Ringstead counted for naught.

Division 2:
No fixtures.
